Rana Plaza Never Again
Today is the anniversary of Rana Plaza so I'm a sharing a speech I made last week.
Rana Plaza should never be forgotten. It must be recognised as a moment when capitalism said the clothes stitched by garment workers are more important than life itself. On the 12th anniversary we must remember that solidarity - not charity - are more important than ever before.
Filming took place at Sands Films in London on a day that brought together many different campaign groups for a new film Sands Films are making about about social reformer William Beveridge called The Man With The Plan, written and directed by Christine Edzard and starring Simon Callow and Sophie Jenkin.
The day was hosted by brilliant Lefty comedian Mark Thomas and there is a wonderful playlist of speeches from that day which can be found here. Speakers included Professor Michael Marmot (The Marmot Review); Deidre Woods (Independent Food Aid Network) and author Danny Dorling. Thank you so much to Sands Films!
